Holy Things

Years ago, God said this to me:

‘I am putting holy things in your hands; don’t take it lightly.’

God told me that ‘holy things’ not only meant the precious people He would entrust to me, but also gifting He had given me. He told me that I was to take these things seriously and to hone these gifts. So, a few years back, I came to stay with Melanie du Toit and spent time with her and other prophetic people in Cape Town. I remember leaving sharpened, deepened and more connected with Jesus and His people, and not only that, I was more confident in hearing God’s voice and proclaiming it.

‘We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;  if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;  if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.’ (Romans 12:6-8)

Prophetic Equipping

There’s a responsibility for all of us to become equipped in the gifts the Lord has given us, and these prophetic equipping times provide opportunities to do just this. Whatever training you may have experienced previously, these training times are awash with situations where we can all be bolder, and more accurate. Where we can all step out to hear God, and not only for ourselves, but for others as well. ‘But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.’ (1 Corinthians 14:3)

..but these times are about more than just receiving head knowledge and information.

The Sharpening

What exhilaration is experienced when, nervously, a tentative word of encouragement is brought and you discover that it is absolutely spot on! We’ve seen such excitement as people grow in confidence and others realise that they can prophesy. Yes, this is a gift for us all!

The Impartation

You may feel that you have heard it all before or, you may never have heard it at all, but these times are about more than just receiving head knowledge and information. These are spaces for impartation as well, not only of a prophetic gifting, but of passion, revelation of Jesus, and what He wants to do in and through His church. As Melanie, Julie, Nadene and Mervis share, you can sense the depth, the passion and the hunger for Jesus threaded through every word.

The Connection

It’s in these times that we connect to people (those He loves) in a deeper way as we do activations together, as we cheer each other on, and as we are vulnerable with each other. We are edified and built into a home – His home.

So, just as I did those years ago, I left this last Prophetic Equip sharpened, deepened, connected and more resolved to be bolder and obedient in this holy gift the Lord has given me. I would encourage everyone to recognise and be confident in the holy things God has put in your hands. Now is the time for us all to rise up and be sharpened in them!

I look forward to seeing you at the next Prophetic Equip!
