A Compass for the Heart

Finding Directions for Freedom and Wholeness in Christ

Psychology can give me an understanding of something, but only the cross of Jesus can actually give me victory over it.

We all want to be free. We just don’t know how.

Our daily lives can be plagued with pride, insecurity, self-hatred, addictions or fear. Wounds from the past can cling to us, no matter how hard we try to move on. We can become trapped in the same endless cycles, not knowing the way out.

Jesus is the way out. He gives us the promise of freedom, through a relationship with Him, and He begins with our hearts. He helps us to understand what lies within us and, through the truth of His Word, enables us to position our hearts to be cleansed, renewed and transformed.

This book aims to provide a type of ‘heart compass’ to lead us towards freedom and wholeness in Christ. It contains stories, principles and practical guidance that point to Jesus – the only One who can truly heal us.

Come and learn to live beneath the waterfall of His love and truth!

REVIEWS

‘Very few Christian counselling books can claim to be both theologically and academically sound. Too many are guilty of simply applying a veneer of Christian language over a secular psychological model. This book is different. It is both theologically and academically sound… Biblical terminology is used in a way that is understandable to all and doesn’t sound clichéd. I also appreciate how correction is gently brought to faulty thinking.’

Mike Davies (Elder in Joshua Generation Church and recognised five-fold teacher within Four12)

‘Angela has a clear understanding of the many blocks to freedom, as well as how God enables us to overcome them. Her book is thoroughly Scriptural, intensely practical and full of hope. Built on the truth that the heart of the matter is a matter of the heart, Angela outlines a way for us to process our hearts on a daily basis.’

Pamela Marais (Wife of the late Dr. William Marais)

‘With a keen understanding of the workings of the human heart and relationships, along with an awareness of the incredible power of the Gospel through forgiveness and repentance, Angela puts into our hands a ‘compass’ to navigate the complicated journey through our sin, brokenness and bondage…into a place of hope, freedom and wholeness. Angela has taken literally hundreds and hundreds of people through this process, and the fruit in people’s lives speaks for itself.’

Lorna Baker (Christian psychologist)

‘This is an awesome pastoral tool. Clear, systematic, vulnerable and honest.’

Dr. Dave and Colleen Pedersen (National Directors of the Association of Vineyard Churches of South Africa)

Angela is married to Brad and they lead the multi-site Oxygen Life Church in Gqeberha. They have three children, Seth, Demi and Levi, who love to advance the kingdom with them.
