03 The Fear of God

What does it mean to fear God? Scripture presents the fear of God not as anxious hiding, shame, or condemnation, but as a right response to His holiness, majesty, authority, and power. It is the foundation for loving Him as Father, revering Him as Lord, obeying His commands, and growing into Christlikeness. Drawing from Solomon’s final words in Ecclesiastes and the witness of both the Old and New Testaments, Luke Watson calls the church to recover a truth that has been neglected and misunderstood. As we turn from empty pursuits and the fear of man, we discover that the fear of God becomes a life-giving fountain of holiness, courage, mercy, protection, and renewed devotion.
