When we are born, the question that we can ask is, "Why am I here? What am I doing here? What am I here for?" And so God has made us as Christians to reflect who He is to His creation. So maybe I can start this time off with a little testimony to tell you how this course came about.
Testimony: Why This Course Was Created
A couple of years back, I was a church leader and there was a period of about three weeks that we had seen no responses to the Gospel. And as a church leader, this was a concern for me because in Acts 2:42-47 we see that God added to the early church daily.
God spoke to me one afternoon and said, "Morné, I have been sending you new salvations, but you have not been faithful with taking care of them. So I've stopped sending them to you." In that moment, I just realized that I'd done wrong. I repented.
I said, "Sorry, Lord," and I changed my mind about it. I purposed in my heart to take care of every single person that gets added. We started with this course that I put together to explain to new believers what the basics of our faith is.
Basics of the Christian Life and Personal Testimonies
What are the things that we need to understand in order to live a fruitful Christian life? We will also tell personal stories that are applicable to the topics that we are covering. Because in Revelation 12:11, it says that they overcame the devil by the blood of the Lamb and the power of the word of their testimony.
So the scope of this course is really from a pastoral care perspective and around information and care. You're not an accident. God has made you to fit into His body and to use you in whichever way He has seen fit. Welcome to Start Here.
