News image for 'Taking Ground' about the buildings God has given to His church

Taking Ground

The Lord is building His church and taking ground for His Kingdom. Here are some encouraging updates from three Four12 partnering churches that have either recently bought buildings or been able to ‘stretch [their] tent curtains wide’ (Isaiah 54:2).

JoshGen Upstate, South Carolina
(Bekah Senn, Elder’s wife)

We at JoshGen Upstate are located in the heart of a small but booming township called Boiling Springs, South Carolina. There are neighbourhoods with hundreds of houses going up all over, yet land is surprisingly hard to come by.

Several months ago, we felt the Lord stir our hearts to begin to look for a building. Though we are still small in number and have only been going 1.5 years, we felt the Lord say that this would be a tool in His hand to continue to build a base for the purpose of multiplication.

We received a picture of a barracks where soldiers of the Lord would be trained and strengthened for battle. Just like a barracks, the building the Lord has given us doesn’t look like much, yet its location is strategically set in the heart of where we’ve been called to serve.

And miraculously, it sits on over three acres of land.  But that’s not the only miracle!  As a small church, we had an immense sum to raise in a matter of weeks as a downpayment. And as a young church, it was virtually impossible to get a loan from a bank, as they require at least three years of history. However, we felt it was right in the Lord to step forward and Steve Moss, our lead elder, heard the Lord say, “The money is in the house.” So he simply shared his testimony of how the Lord had  called and led him by faith to this place called Boiling Springs, along with the vision of what the Lord could do with a sold-out people willing to sacrifice to see the Kingdom advance.

Over $106,000 came in from our people in a matter of 2 days! (Considering the congregation has 50 members, that equates to about $5,000 per family, which is extravagant giving!) And it kept coming until we received enough for the downpayment and some initial renovations.

The next miracle came weeks later, after we had exhausted every avenue for a loan, only to be rejected by each. The seller offered to finance the loan himself at 2% less interest than a traditional bank. This is almost unheard of in a situation like this and another true miracle from the Lord!

Our first meeting in the new building will be as Sunday, August 6th, and we are hoping to have a huge Grand Opening in December, on our two-year anniversary as a church. You are all invited!

Worchester & Paarl Buildings – Joshua Generation Church, South Africa
(Kim Muller, Elder)

We are delighted to announce the recent acquisition of two new buildings for Joshua Generation Church. They signify a momentous step forward in our mission to spread the Gospel and will be places where we aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbours, demonstrating Christ’s love in action and becoming beacons of hope in a world that often yearns for it.

The first building in Paarl comes as an answer to prayer for a permanent venue.

Worcester, our second building, marks a tremendous opportunity to enhance our community outreach efforts, as it is located in the established suburb but also near to a newly-developed section.

Both buildings, in their unique ways, will contribute to fostering a culture of discipleship and fellowship.

As we reflect on the significance of these acquisitions, we do so with hearts full of gratitude to God. It is He who has blessed us with the resources and vision to undertake these endeavours. Moreover, these new buildings are not merely physical structures–they represent an extension of our faith and a tangible expression of our commitment to the Kingdom’s advancement. As we step into this new chapter, we humbly seek God’s guidance and wisdom to steward these blessings effectively.

City on a Hill Church, Benoni – Upgrade Project
(Drew Scott, Deacon)

Hello Four12 family! City on a Hill Church (CHC) in Benoni, South Africa, is excited to announce the start of our church upgrade project.

Through the wisdom and stewardship of those who established and built into what is now CHC, we are blessed to own a small shopping centre which incorporates the church building. Through the years some additions and alterations have been made to the buildings, including the addition of a main auditorium which was completed in September 2008. However, the complex is showing its age and is in dire need of an upgrade.

Whilst there have been a few proposals over the years for revamping the facilities, they didn’t materialise until now, and we trust this is God’s timing. The proposed upgrade was presented to the church at the end of last year and a call for pledges to support the project was made. Despite tough economic times, the response from the saints was amazing and funds started to flow, enabling the project to commence this month.

The total project value is estimated at R15m and will be executed in 4 distinct phases, which will enable us to continue using the church building for our meetings while the upgrades take place. The revamp of the main auditorium (Phase 1) and the entrance, foyer, coffee bar and offices (Phase 2) is planned for completion by the end of this year. Subject to available funding, the remaining two phases of upgrading the external building and shopping centre at large are planned for the first half of 2024.

The main idea behind the upgrade is to establish a base church with adequate facilities in the Gauteng area from which we trust we will see many new church plants and partnering churches established.
