The Significance of One

One transformed life can open a door into a nation. That’s how the story behind the October outreach to Mozambique began two years ago – with one lady.

She had been visiting Familia Christi in Queenstown, then had a life-changing experience at the Ladies Time held at their church when she surrendered her heart to Jesus. Her conversion was radical, and she returned to Maputo a completely new person. Everyone she knew was taken aback by the change they saw in her, which led to her mother attending the Ladies Time the following year to see for herself.

When her mother returned to Maputo with a similar testimony to her daughter’s, six men were led to attend the Men’s Camp, hosted by two partnering churches, Familia Christi and Living Waters, to see for themselves. They had never seen nor experienced people prophesying, being joyful and dancing in worship, but above all, welcoming them with open arms and hearts. The relationships they saw between the men, loving each other as brothers in Jesus, was another powerful testimony and something they had not witnessed before.

They had never seen nor experienced people prophesying, being joyful and dancing in worship, but above all, welcoming them with open arms and hearts.

One of the men, Paulo, a lead elder, testified afterwards, “I’ve always longed to see and experience the supernatural, and what I’ve experienced here was supernatural!”

They went back to Mozambique, their hearts changed with a longing to experience what they had experienced at the Men’s Camp in their local churches. This led them to invite Velle & Lizette, lead eldership couple of Familia Christi, to Mozambique. They took four leaders from Oxygen Life and Living Waters with them.

About six different churches in Maputo were invited to a men’s breakfast (the first time these churches had come together), where there were two salvations and one recommitment after a beautiful word on the love of the Father. There was also a big celebration as two men were baptised, followed by a significant time of fellowship among the men from the different churches.

…many ladies felt that they had entered a new season and would never be the same again.

One of the strongest testimonies to those in Mozambique was seeing how elders from different churches submitted to each other, were led by the Holy Spirit, and never built towards themselves but pointed only to Jesus and His glory.

The ladies had their own breakfast concurrently, where prophetic words were shared and many ladies felt that they had entered a new season and would never be the same again.

On the Sunday morning, the team was given complete freedom to preach and prophesy over Paulo’s congregation. The response was great, with most people coming forward for baptism in the Holy Spirit. The service (which normally ends after about an hour) only ended at 1pm!

…a clear linking in the Spirit took place.

Hearts were opened and bridges of friendship were built; a clear linking in the Spirit took place.

All because of one life, changed forever by Jesus.
