Jesus longs for worship from our hearts, but what does this mean? If worship is one of Jesus’s primary love languages, how does He want to be loved? Jesus is looking for worshippers who worship in spirit and in truth (John 3:23-24). So worship from the heart starts with worshipping Jesus from our spirit. Sometimes we don’t break through in worship because we are singing or playing our instruments from our heads, not from our spirits. As worshippers, we should also be singing truth, but God is looking for more than just truthful songs. He wants us to adopt a posture of humility and confession in our worship, so that He can sanctify us with truth. Secrecy and hidden sin kill worship from the heart. Heart-felt worship will also stir our emotions, so that our bodies cannot help but to respond to God. Finally, worshipping God from the heart means that we disregard time, and give Him the quality and quantity time that He deserves.
