Stepping Into the Wilderness
God desires our love above all else, but our hearts are often unfaithful. Because God loves us, He is jealous for us and will do whatever it takes to bring us back to Him. A proud heart cannot truly appreciate, love, or obey the Lord—only a humble heart can. In this message preached at the Winelands Regional Equip, Lukas Nakos demonstrates why God leads us into the wilderness: to purify our hearts. It is a place designed to strip away our idols, expose our weaknesses, and break our self-reliance. The wilderness will humble, discipline, and help us recognise our need for God, just as Israel learned during their 40 years in the desert (Deuteronomy 8:2-5). In our journey through the wilderness, our ultimate response is humble surrender and wholehearted devotion to Him.
