Who Appoints Elders?
Over time, the church universally has taken many different approaches to appointing elders. In this clip, Andrew Selley and Adam Hellyer discuss the process of ordaining elders within the life of the local church, within the context of Scripture. Andrew also briefly provides answers to popular questions, such as: How do we raise up elders? What are the qualifications of an elder? Is eldership a calling? What is the role of the apostolic in appointing elders? Once elders are appointed, is that their role for life?
Adam serves on the eldership team of King and Saints Church in Australia and has been in ministry since 1997. He has been married to Vanessa since 1999, and they have two sons. Adam’s particular passions are teaching and worship.
Andrew is the apostolic leader of Four12 (F12) and the lead elder of multisite, Joshua Generation Church. He has been in full-time ministry since 1996. After serving on the NCMI apostolic team for five years, he founded Four12 in 2011. Andrew is based in California, USA, with his wife, Emma, and their daughter, Enyah.
